An Open Invitation to see GOD Provides

Loch Raven Presbyterian Church, affiliated with the PCA, is proud to present the Crown Financial Ministries film series GOD Provides to our congregation and your family and friends.

Throughout history, people have wrestled with the concept of trusting God to meet their needs versus relying on the world. A struggle that continues to this day for many! In light of today’s uncertain times we will revisit how God reveals His desires to be our ultimate Provider.

Using six theater quality short films and a printed companion guide this truths come to life in this rich and dramatic learning experience journey titled - GOD Provides.

Marriage Building God's Way...

Our ongoing Marriage Builder's Bible Study and Fellowship will kick off the new year with a new study - Experiencing God's Dream for Your Marriage. This series comes from Living on the Edge LivingontheEdge.org ministry

The study of Experiencing God's Dream for Your Marriage will be presented (January through June) in six parts from:
- God's Dream for Your Marriage
- What Went Wrong? Barriers to Intimacy
- Communication: How to "Share Hearts" Instead of "Exchange Words"
- Four Keys to Intimacy
- Conflict Resolution: How to "Fight Fair" in Marriage
- Men and Women: Enjoying the Difference

We meet the last Saturday of each month (except May - 4th Sat) from 6:30/7:00 - 9:30 PM, and is hosted by various members.

To be a Marriage Builder

Our group has three goals...
-Search the scriptures together to see what it has to say to us about marriage
-Work together to apply God's Biblical principles within our own marriage
-Fellowship with other couples, and learn from one another's experiences...

and we have three membership rules:
-Share nothing with the group, which might embarrass our mate
-Keep confidences of information which may be shared inside the group
-Feel free to participate or pass on any discussion topic or group activity

We Believe in the Sanctity of Marriage and Family
God instituted marriage and family as the basic building block of human culture. We further believe that God has established marriage as a sacred covenant between Himself a man and a woman for life.

Two Different Views of Christmas

Politically Correct Holiday Greeting or Not!

Please accept with no obligation, implied or explicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2009, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

Twas the Month before Christmas

Twas the month before Christmas,
When all through our land ,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

See the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas, in a quiet, sly way.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

“It might hurt people's feelings,” the teachers would say
“December 25th is just a school ' Holiday '.”
Yet the shoppers were ready with checks, credit, cash,
Ready to make their gift buying dash!

CDs from Madonna, an Xbox, a Wii.
Something was changing, what could it be?
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken and Fonda.

The Targets were hanging their trees upside down,
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears,
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty,
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen.
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter,
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word as they removed our faith,
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded,
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' beside your 'Dream Tree',
Think of times past and listen to me.

Choose your words carefully,
Choose what you say.
Wish a MERRY CHRISTMAS to all,
Not Happy Holiday!

As Christians we must join together and say,
Enough! Stop! Give us back our Holiday !!
It’s time that you stop and listen to reason,
For Christ is the basis for the Christ-mas Season!
