Two Different Views of Christmas

Politically Correct Holiday Greeting or Not!

Please accept with no obligation, implied or explicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2009, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

Twas the Month before Christmas

Twas the month before Christmas,
When all through our land ,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

See the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas, in a quiet, sly way.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

“It might hurt people's feelings,” the teachers would say
“December 25th is just a school ' Holiday '.”
Yet the shoppers were ready with checks, credit, cash,
Ready to make their gift buying dash!

CDs from Madonna, an Xbox, a Wii.
Something was changing, what could it be?
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken and Fonda.

The Targets were hanging their trees upside down,
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears,
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty,
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen.
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter,
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word as they removed our faith,
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded,
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' beside your 'Dream Tree',
Think of times past and listen to me.

Choose your words carefully,
Choose what you say.
Wish a MERRY CHRISTMAS to all,
Not Happy Holiday!

As Christians we must join together and say,
Enough! Stop! Give us back our Holiday !!
It’s time that you stop and listen to reason,
For Christ is the basis for the Christ-mas Season!

LoveBags Anyone?

OK, how many of you have not felt uncomfortable by the never ending appearance of apparently homeless individuals asking for money, food, and every now and then even for a job? In our neck of the woods (Dundalk/Middle River/White Marsh) we see them often at the stop light intersections where we come face to face with their signs for assistance. Most of their handmade cardboard signs remind me how good we really do have it. And some are rather humorous. Recently we saw a man in DC holding up his sign that stated “The truth is I need money for booze”! But, haven’t we sometime even rationalized that's why we don’t help, because we don't what to contribute to their further down fall, right? Being the son of two alcoholic parents I’m sorry to say, that I have… :-(

So Marlene and I are starting a new project in and around our community called LoveBags. We will be putting a little bit of love into some plastic bags. Today we purchased enough non-perishable food items to fill thirty-two one gallon zip locked bags with a variety of items, in hopes that we can make a small difference. All together we only spent $1.50 per LoveBag! So at least for awhile we will not be looking away at those intersections. Instead we will be looking for opportunities to share our LoveBags with others. And of course being Christians we will be also be adding a little spiritual food in our LoveBags also!

We will be posting addition info here to keep anyone interested in our efforts.

Together,

~ keith & marlene

PS: Today, Sunday 8/2 four couples gathered to begin building 8 LoveBags each (total of 32 LoveBags). Our next step is to add some spiritual (love) food, and distribute them. Check back soon the see our experiences and the fruits of our efforts. Our Team consists of (left to right) John & Chris Mason, Sylvia & Keith Goodson, Bill & Elaine Eaton, and Marlene & Keith (behind the camera) Wawrzyniak.

and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, (Hebrews 10:24)

Traditional Marriages Future - What say you?

I never would have imaged that just a decade ago the bed-rock of every civilized culture – the definition of marriage and the family unit – would be under going such an assault as has exploded around the world and now in the American family life. Sure our traditional marriages are not perfect, but I dare say that the new age alternatives being offered up will be the downfall of mankind.

Even if one does not believe as I do from a Biblical world view, that marriage was God’s design for his creation of man-kind for a man and a woman - how can anyone turn a blind eye to the basic anatomy of a naked man and woman united together? This perfectly created union that so righty fits together -- as God says for our completeness, and for procreations.

On one side of the argument we have today’s gay-rights advocates saying, in the name of “Sexual Liberty”, they have a politically-correct better idea (like Ford, McDonalds, and the Wal-Marts of the world agree) that same-sex marriage is a self-declared right that cannot be denied. Today it is marriage between two of the same-sex and tomorrow’s will be the desire for the first “legal” trio-sex union and beyond. Can we not see the slipper-slope back to the days of Sodom and Gomorrah?

The Massachusetts and California Legal Systems have started the battle for same sex marriages across the entire United States of America. Take for example California’s Proposition 8. This proposition is on the November 4th ballot to overturn the State’s Supreme Court decision and restore the definition of marriage that was approved by a mere 61% of voters. The ballot title originally approved for Proposition 8 described the proposal as a state amendment "to provide that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." Now Democrat State Attorney General Jerry Brown has managed to change the title to describe the proposal as amending the state constitution to "eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry." No matter how it’s worded I believe the correct vote is YES!

On the other side of the argument are basically those with a Biblical world view. The following organizations represent my beliefs and I hope yours also. As Bill O'Reilly would say, ”What say you?”
